  grub-install hangs when installing to multipath drive

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 17.10 ppc64le

  Installing to Shared storage pool LU virtual disk with multipath to
  two VIO servers.

  Running "grub-install /dev/mapper/mpatha1"  hangs during ISO
  installation.

  Should work as is has previously on 16.04 LTS

  IBM Power 8 S824
  PowerVM / VIOS 2.2.6.10
  Dual VIO dual path to SSP LU disk 150GB
