I lost sudoer rights after upgrades this week (it's been a while since I rebooted so I can't know what else was upgraded since the previous rebot).

Bug description:
  Edit: I'm also experiencing this bug with the latest intel-microcode
  (3.20180425.1~ubuntu0.18.04.1)

  I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms as this bug:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-microcode/+bug/1759920

  However, that bug was marked as fixed.

  The workaround as desribed in that bug works for me. As soon as I try
  to update intel-microcode, my computer will not boot. I'm using the
  4.4 kernel from 16.04.
