Thank you for reporting your problem to Ubuntu.

As you are no doubt aware:

Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) reached end-of-life on October 28, 2012.
Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOLUpgrades documents the procedure to
upgrade an unsupported release to a supported release.

Sorry but we cannot provide support to upgrade to unsupported releases.

May be a lighter flavour of Ubuntu?

Have you considered asking for such help in the support forum of your
local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
http://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org.
