Title:
Installer adds confusing lines to /root/.profile when choosing C as
locale
Status in base-installer package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Status in base-installer package in Debian:
Unknown
Bug description:
I installed systems using ubuntu-13.10-server-amd64.iso as well as
ubuntu-12.04.4-server-amd64.iso and chose "C - No localization" as
default system language during install. The installer added the
following 5 lines to /root/.profile:
# Installed by Debian Installer:
# no localization for root because C
# cannot be properly displayed at the Linux console
LANG=C
LANGUAGE=C
Obviously these lines are superfluous. Choosing e.g. US English
(en_US.UTF-8) as the default language doesn't result in these lines
being added.
Btw, it would be great if we could choose C.UTF-8 as the default
locale during install.
Many thanks in advance.
