Bug description:
  Since that upgrade, lot of similar messages are now logged:

  update-notifier.desktop[3230]: Cannot stat file /proc/6402/fd/4:
  Permission denied

  Indeed it can't be found as the highest /proc/ subdir is 3777; no 6402
  around here.
