[Bug 1733398] [NEW] gunzip fails with message : not in gzip format

Public bug reported:

I use "gzip -d" or "gunzip" to extract build logs to update the symbols.
For example:

wget https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-
ci/+archive/ubuntu/unstable/+build/13749931/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-
bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4%3A17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

gunzip buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4\:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

However, on Bionic this last command fails with:

gzip: buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz:
not in gzip format


The same file extracts on other systems, just not Bionic 18.04
