  cifs drive randomly stops working after kernel update

Bug description:
  Hi,

  Ever since early May, after an upgrade of the Ubuntu kernel, my Cifs
  drive has been unable to mount stably. This has happened on multiple
  installations of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, not just on one machine.
