The non-expansion of the text/data area when the software updater window
is expanded has carried over to Ubuntu 17.04. Fortunately, the initial
size is now bigger than the previous one line, but extending the window
to the bottom of the screen does not result in any increase in the text
area size.

Title:
Terminal window too small while updating.

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When using the Software Updater to update software, whenever there is
software to update, there is an option to expand the details of the
update. In the past, the window has expanded to show details of the
packages being updated and their progress. Since updating to 16.10,
the details window does not expand but remains as a strip in which the
  details are hardly legible.
