Thanks, yeah, I was pressed for time. I found that even a fresh install in
EFI mode failed to boot, though. Possibly a failure of my machine as the
BIOS warns that EFI is beta.

I've got XP on /dev/sda1, Ubuntu 16.10 on sda6 and now Ubu Gnome on
