when I marked the dependent package for removal it was removable, I
reinstalled. Later, after disturbing fstab I re-entered as root, gave
myself write permission, controlled my errors and let DPKG fix broken or
missing packages.
My system runs fine now.

Bug description:
My "server" is a poweredge 1435 but it serves as a node to my "master" which is a biostar +6.
This is a MPICH at-home project that is proceeding nicely.
Mounting to the shared directory is necessary for a shared machinefile in the mount directory.
This file identifies hosts, networks, and the number of cores available.
Mounting to the /var/nfs/ is vital.
My problems began when it seemed that my nfs-common was idle. It seems to not exist.
The nfs-daemon itself has never started.
The command iptables -L -n showed policies are to accept

  Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  "sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server*"
