Your disk drive is failing and likely needs replaced. You can take a
look at its SMART health status using the Disks utility.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)

Title:
Unable to Install Grub2 on Mac

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have tried several times to install Ubuntu onto an old MacBook.

I have tried for several days and nothing. I have followed
instructions but everything has failed so far.

It is working fine on LiveCD, it is just Grub that's an issue.
