Public bug reported:
Running Ubuntu 16.04.1 MATE (32 bits) on a EeePC (1Gb RAM, HDD 750 Gb,
fresh install)
Was trying to install THONNY (IDE for beginners in python).
(Because I didn't succeed via 'sudo apt-get install thonny', found some "pip" installation hints on the web).
Installation succeeded a few days ago on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop
(under Lubuntu 16.04 x64 desktop).
I was trying to install PIP to get it done, but system aborted
installation on error code.
Might be important : used
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/python python
/usr/bin/python3 20
to force system to use python 3.5 by default.
Accept my apologies for my bad english. I hope you can understand what I wrote ;-)
Best regards from Belgium.
Claude
