Title:
Installer crash near end of setup

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Ran the installer. Toward the end of setup after all files were copied
the installer crashed. Got this message:

"We're sorry; the installer crashed. After you close this window,
we'll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug
reporting tool. This will gather information about your system and
your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker
and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible."

Install target was external USB stick, using encrypted LVM.

Duplicated this error several times. You should pay me by the hour to
  use your software.

There were other bugs during this attempted install, a couple
violations of my privacy, and this cumbersome bug reporting process.
Every other install on every device I've tried has had its own unique
errors. Since I can't install Ubuntu, I take that as a sign to buy a
Mac. I will not be reporting the other bugs. I have better things to
  do.

I remember another installer bug I reported a couple years ago -- that
still has not been fixed. Because Ubuntu does not include "lvm2" in
the liveimage the installer cannot create encrypted partitions with
lvm. Also with that same old, old issue, installer fails creating
encrypted swap unless user goes in and manually shuts swapoff --all.

No customer should have to troubleshoot just to install the system.
This is crazy. These bugs should be the highest priority.

How do you expect people to use Ubuntu if they can't install it? I
  mean, the *installer* crashes? Srsly?
