  Software Updater returns error " Not enough free disk space"

Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Fresh install of Raspberry Pi version 16.04.2 LTS on 16Gb MicroSD
  card. When I try to run Software Updater I get error "Not enough free
  disk space" "The upgrade needs a total of 48.2 M free space on disk
  '/boot'. Please free at least an additional 4,088k . . ."  I get this
  message with the same free space numbers no matter what downloads I
  select, even if it's only Software Updater at 543 k and nothing else.
