  Software updater claims not enough space on /boot to perform upgrades

Bug description:
  Running the software update utility on a default 14.04 installation
  with full-disc encryption enabled results in the error message
  "insufficient space on /boot to perform upgrades". However, the
  command-line utilities successfully perform the required upgrades
