You need to install golang-go to get a go on $PATH.

Bug description:
  I installed the golang-1.8 meta package and noticed there is no go
  binary in the path.

  The file list shows that binaries is put into /usr/lib

  http://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/amd64/golang-1.8-go/filelist
