It's not enough to just move the sources.list file out of the way, you'd
need to revert to the Xorg packages provided by the official Ubuntu
archive instead of the PPA you are using. There is a tool called ppa-
purge which will do just that.

Get upgrade error 12.04 - 12.10 "Could not determine upgrade" - xorg from ppa

  Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

  This can be caused by:
  * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
  command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

^Only thing running for updates was this same update and don't see
another log. Ended up forcing the update manually by editing
sources.list from Wily to Xenial, also /var/log/apport.log is empty.
