Hi,

As you mention, the system was booted in EFI mode, this was because it
failed to boot in BIOS mode.

I believe the message did say that this may effect OTHER os on the
system not that it would effect the one I was trying to install.  I
thought it was going to setup EFI booting.  This would not have been a
problem to me as there were no other os installed on the system.

I could not use the "use entire disk" option, as the disk contains an
800GB data partition that I would prefer to keep.
