The bios does not know about raid so grub can not be installed on one.
It must be installed on one or more bare disks.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  grub won't install on md0 (raid0)

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Created 3 arrays using cfdisk and mdadm
  md0 -> raid0 -> /
  md1 -> raid0 -> /var
  md2 -> raid1 -> /home

  Chose grub to be installed on /dev/md0

  Installation goes fine until the end when it fails with an error that
  grub can't be installed and system will be unbootable. Installer then
  just crashes.
