The option is given because you can choose to continue in EFI mode, and
go ahead and create an EFI system partition, and then successfully
install in EFI mode.

Title:
installation to coexist with 12.04 failed - grub-efi-amd64-signed pkg
did not install
Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
"grub-efi-amd64-signed package failed to install into /target/.
Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot."
followed by 'installer crashed'
Installing next to a 12.04 installation that had individual partitions
for /home, /var, /usr, /bin, etc. Resized to put 16.04 all on one
partition. That may have something to do with the failure.
