Title:
linux-image package packages errors keep preventing me from
installing/uninstalling software and updates on ubuntu 14.04

Status in grub package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Whenever I try to update, upgrade or install anything this error occures
dpkg: error processing package linux-image-3.13.0-88-generic (--remove):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   linux-image-extra-3.13.0-88-generic
   linux-image-3.13.0-88-generic
  E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

And this is just an example...
I tried removing the linux-image packages that aren't the current one, and I also tried the solutions suggested all over forums but none of them works.
