Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled a
PPA that provides Xorg packages. This will prevent the upgrade as that
PPA contains different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The
page, https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details
on to how to revert to the official Xorg packages for the xorg-edgers
PPA. Instructions for reverting to official Xorg packages should be
similar for the PPA that you have enabled.

Title:
Error upgrading to 16.04 Error during planing to upgrade

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
When I try to upgrade to kubuntu 16.04, I get the error: There was a fatal error in the planning
  of the upgrade

  This can be because of:

  - Upgrading to an unfinished version (obviously not, since 16.04 has been released)
  - Running an unfinished version (No, I am running 15.10)
  - Are dependent of unofficial packages that are not supported by ubuntu (Not sure, but I can't find any)

I thought it was because of cinnamon that I had installed, but I get
the same error after I removed it. And I used sudo apt-get autoremove
after I removed it. Restarted as well.

I have no clue why I can't upgrade. I have searched the net for
similar problems, but could not find any other similar cases.

I guess that I have 1 or more package installed that blocks the
upgrade, but as I said, I have no clue which one(s).

I hope someone here can find the problematic package, and let me know
  which one it is.

Other weird thing is, I do not have ubuntu installed. After I got rid
of cinnamon, the only ones left are kubuntu and ubuntu mate.

Side-note, probably not the cause (but never know) I have Windows 10
  installed as well.

If this is not a bug, please let me know. But please let me know how
  to fix this.

This is so weird, I do not have ubuntu installed but that is the readout I get when using lsb_release -rd
