Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 13.04 reached EOL in 2014.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS offers boost 1.58.

It's generally not possible for new major software upgrades to be
released for existing stable Ubuntu releases. If you want newer
software, you should upgrade to a supported Ubuntu release that includes
that software.

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

** Changed in: boost-defaults (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Fix Released

Title:
boost 1.49.0 has some critical bugs and 1.54 has been released!

Status in boost-defaults package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I'm currently developping a software depending on boost and I have
compilation issues due to boost 1.49.

  http://robotpkg.openrobots.org/rbulk/robotpkg-wip/wip/libmove3d-
  planners/index.html#libmove3d-planners-1.3.3r3

In ubuntu quantal and raring (12.10, 13.04), the version of boost
available is 1.49.0.1 which is a version with critical bugs such as

  https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/6858

which has been fixed in next versions.

Is it possible to update the available version on the repository?
Using 1.53.0 like in ubuntu 13.10 would be perfect.

  Thanks
