Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the 16.04 installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that
this could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

  Grub2 installation fails during a fresh install ubuntu 16.04

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  its a dual boot with Windows 7. I had created an 8200 MB swp area and
  20482MB mount point as / and about 390 GB was with a a mount point
  /home. My Windows was installed in UEFI mode and hence i continued
  installing Ubuntu 16.04 in the same. The installation exits with an
  error that grub2 cant be installed. if I pull out the USB live disc it
  shows a black screen with grub rescue(i3286 module missing). Could
  this be because the live disc was created in Ubuntu 15.04 or something
  related to 32 bit or 64 bit architecture?
