[Bug 1598499] [NEW] Grub failed to install and crashed the instller

I've used 15.04 and 15.10 on this system for ages, installing using a
USB that i used to install 16.04 on my laptop (a dell XPS 13 9343). I
will attempt a manual install of grub for the usb now.
