  ubuntu-release-upgrader craches on " Setting new software channels" !

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
   on my Attempt  to upgrade from trusty to xenial using the upgrader
  GUI,  it craches on the 2nd step ' setting new software channels' with
  the error  :

  " Could not calculate the upgrade

  An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

   This can be caused by:
   * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu ".
