Title:
package grub-pc 1.98-1ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: Crypt/LVM +
USB bootstick to blame?
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2
I have a 64-bit laptop that I was trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10
to 10.04. During dist-upgrade, and subsequent attempts to complete a
reinstallation of grub-pc, I encountered the attached error. /boot was
mounted (see partitioning below) before each attempt, but was found to
be unmounted afterwards.
Partitioning setup:
mbr: winboot
sda1: Windows 7
sda2: LUKS "sda2_crypt"
LVM (1 logical group, named "singleton")
/ (on logical volume "ozzie")
/home (on logical volume "sweethome")
swap (on logical volume "bigswap")
There is also a USB stick with the following partitioning:
mbr: GRUB2 stage 1
sdb1: /boot GRUB2 stage 2
The USB stick will prompt me to unlock the main hard drive's LUKS
partition, then boot to the Ubuntu OS inside.
