theses scripts cannot be in /usr, as they are used to bring up a disk
drive which might be hosting /usr.

they could be moved to e.g. /lib.

  I see scripts in /etc/sysconfig/scripts/*. Should these not be in
  /usr/share/sysconfig/something instead?
