Title:
grub2 os selections screen changed after today's updates

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Runinng dual boot XUbuntu 16.04 on an Asus UX303LNB laptop.

Prior to today's updates, I got the black os selection boot screen,
  then the Xubuntu login prompt.

Since the updates, I get a blue-turquoise Debian boot screen, with the
DEbian text covering the instructions of what options I have, followed
by a long screen of text [OK] thing thing thing...

At shutdown, I get that long screen of text again...

I did not install any new software, but this is really not what I
  want.

I do not have a /etc/default/grub file so it is very hard for me to
  see how to fix this.

Anyway, it is a bug because it is new, incorrect behavior that I did
  not request...

I use this PC to showcase Ubuntu and I keep it elegant and clean, but
this latest thing is really unsightly and makes the OS look very scary
  for just anyone...

  Please help me.
  Thanks,
  Bob
