[Bug 1610602] [NEW] GRUB install failed when installing ubuntu

Public bug reported:

I was trying to install Ubuntu on a partition on my SSD. I used GParted
to format it as ext4. Then, during the install process, I formatted as
ext4, using / as the mount point. The installation eventually failed,
saying that GRUB-install failed, a fatal error, which halts
installation. It seems to happen every time I attempt installation.
