This bug still occurs in my system: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.

Cannot open any video from a smb share without the video player complaining that it cannot find a plugin to 'SMB protocol source'.
Locally they play fine tough.

Still didn't debug enough to know what is causing this problem, but it
seams to me that the wrong url is being passed to the video player from
nautilus.
