I have icedtea-8-plugin to Ubuntu 16.04 because icedtea-7-plugin has end
support since Apr 2015.

Link Java support :
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html - find Java SE
Public Updates to see Java support.

Status in icedtea-web package in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
OpenJDK 8 is available in the Utopic repositories, but icedtea-8-plugin does not exist.
I did see that in Debian this 'bug' is known and the new control files etc are already made available in this repository:
  https://code.launchpad.net/~openjdk/openjdk/icedtea-web

Can the icedtea package please be updated and this new package pulled
  into the Utopic repositories?
