Public bug reported:
I'm trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on an ASUS Netbook with Win8 on
it. I'm trying for a dual boot install. I've tried installing Ubuntu
with Secure Boot both enabled and disabled and appear to get the same
error regardless. The end result is that GRUB messes with the Windows
boot loader resulting in an unbootable H/D. I was able to restore
(reset) Win8 from the recovery partition.
I haven't tried installing Ubuntu on the whole drive because this is a
friend's netbook and I have no way to recover Win8 if the install fails
when installing on the complete H/D. As a last ditch effort, I'll try
the install on the whole drive, but I want to exhaust my other options
first.
