This issue has been there for ages (at least 5 releases), but now I'll try to report it!
I installed ubuntu and chose german as the language of choice.
The installed system has german localisation which is downloaded at install time, but when I open the "languages" app it complains about missing language files.
It wants to install the following packages:
libreoffice-l10n-en-gb
mythes-de-ch
hunspell-en-ca
libreoffice-help-en-gb
thunderbird-locale-en-gb
hunspell-de-ch
hunspell-de-at
mythes-en-au
libreoffice-l10n-en-za
Then in the "languages" list it displays:
Deutsch(Deutschland)
English(United Kingdom)
English
English(Australia)
English(Canada)
English(New Zealand)
English(United States)
So to sum it up:
-Some packages shouldn't be installed: *.ch and *.at as I'm in Germany and not Austria or Switzerland, and these also aren't in the list of installed locales
-The english dialects aren't applicable at all, I haven't chosen them
What I would expect is that only "Deutsch(Deutschland)" and perhaps also
"English" are installed, and all applicable packages of these locales
are installed
