Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Title:
Icedax device probing is broken
Status in cdrkit package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: icedax
Icedax is (almost) totally broken and crippled so much that it is
absolutely unusable!
1. "icedax --devices" (recommended command for probing devices) returns a segmentation fault
2. "icedax -scanbus" works, but when you then try to actually read the CD information with the gathered information (either "icedax -J dev=x,y,0" or "icedax -J -D x,y,0") you get a little surprise. A nice infinite loop saying:
Unable to open this SCSI ID. Trying to map to old ATA syntax. This workaround will disappear in the near future. Fix your configuration.
"Original" cdda2wav OR icedax versions of another distribution work
perfectly on the same machine (later case with another distro
however). Trying to read the CD by guessing the device using the
"icedax -J -D /dev/cdrom3" works.
Devices are all ATA type.
Package is regular "icedax" found in Synaptic for Hardy Heron (i586).
