[Bug 1503591] [NEW] hang processing -- grab some diagnostics on hangs

When we detect and terminate a run for timeout reasons it would be
instructive to grab some information before destroying the instance
state.  For example a ps -ef would tell us what was running, dmesg
output may be instructive on real VMs etc.
