This is obviously a Wishlist bug; I looked very quickly and it seems
like it probably shouldn't be too much work to add; provided some
changes to support both --bzr and --git switches, etc.

Bug description:
  Howdy,

  Now that Launchpad supports git, it would be very handy to be able to
  keep seeds in git as well., though somehow it'd have to be able to
  handle platform.release in bzr while the flavor seed is in git.
