Title:
  update manager fails upgrading from 10.04 to 12.04

Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  fresh install of 10.04 32-bit on a dell latitude d600 laptop. only installed ubuntu-desktop and then proceeded to attempt to upgrade to 12.04.   First from Cd, which starts update-manager. 
  The process begins fine and then after a short time update-manager crashes with a calculation error.
