Title:
  hard disk too old

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
All started after a sudden crash while using ubuntu 11.10. After
reinitialize the computer, the unity desktop and tools didnt appear.
Tried to search for some clues on internet but after all decided to
reinstall ubuntu from an USB, using the option "update ubuntu 11.10",
because this way I wouldnt loose my files. During the instalation

  intall ubuntu properly.
