[Bug 1475725] [NEW] ubuntu 14.04.2 installer crashes at 'running "grub-install/dev/sda..."'

Public bug reported:

Trying to perform a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS on a new machine
via bootable USB. Installing on a 64 GB Solid State Drive. Have tried
multiple times, even recreating the bootable drive, and it continues to
crash at the above mentioned point.
