repository settings cannot be changed and notices for software updates
no longer pop up.

Bug description:
  Since three days ago all my checkmarks on  boxes  in ubuntu
  software/other software/updates disappeared.  so did all the
  checkmarks beside all the ppa that i added. software and updates
  cannot be changed or edited.
