Public bug reported:
Using Software-updater in Ubuntu 14.10 downloads changes but refuses to
carry them out when OK is pressed.
The software updater queries the repositories and returns a list of available upgrades.
When choosing OK (selection stopped working a while ago), the download dialog appears but renders a failure notice (check internet connection - which is working perfectly fine).
This happens regularly.
Doing the upgrade in a terminal works first time.
Observed behaviour:
Sometimes IPv6 address resolution appears during download of package
lists (which breaks regularly).
The query progress bar in the graphical interface jumps erratically
instead of running smoothly (might be an indication of failed name
resolution or package retrieval)
No changes in network configuration on my side (just in case someone
might wonder)
Download from the main server is extremely slow (40-50k/s on a 45Mb/s
line)
Main servers used in update configuration
