  grub failed on install kubuntu 9.1

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

  At about 90% install it gave me the message that Grub failed on hd0
  and this is a fatal error.  I clicked ok and it gave me the bug report
  window.  I am installing on a non Raid disk, but i am including an on
  the motherboard (sometimes called fake raid) raid array for data.  I
  previously had 8.1 installed on this machine, only difference being i
  had the install disk in a mirror array (also built on the
  motherboard).  I ran some updates on that and it failed to boot after
  that (we also had a power outage that it had booted back up from just
  before the updates).  I couldn't figure out how to fix the boot error
  (mainly because the install drive was mirrored) so decided to install
  without the mirror.  The way the disks are laid out I believe hd0
  falls in the Data raid and shouldn't even be installing the boot on
  it(though i can't be sure).  Following is the error info.
