Title:
Grub kernel parmeter editing broken after upgrade.

Status in grub package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I've upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid to try and solve some sound
problems, and now I can no longer specify new parameters on the kernel
boot line (which is sort of important). I can 'e' to edit the line,
and open a new line, and add a '1' or a 'single' at the end of the
command, but when I 'b' to boot, the computer resets, and I'm back to
the beginning. When I don't enter parameters, it works just fine and
boots, only when I enter an additional parameter does it go through a
reboot instead of what I wanted.

What I want: To boot into runlevel 1 or single user mode by appending a '1' or 'single' on the end of the boot command.
What I get: hard reboot, eventually ending back at grub.
