Public bug reported:

Lubuntu 14.04.1 alternate i386 installer will put Grub in the MBR of the usb-drive containing the installation-iso if you select either
"Install" or "expert install" (in unetbootin menu). The Pendrive is hidden if you select "Install lubuntu"

The usb-pendrive is allready shown as a possibly install-target for
partitioning. I select the hdd and the install works well.

Grub asks wheather it should install to MBR and then installs to the
USB-MBR even if its not /dev/sda, never to hdd

It can easily be worked around by selecting "NO" (dont install to mbr). You will then get the chance to specify the target-device
Selecting "No" is not intuitive though as i thought the installation will proceed without grub being installed anywhere.

The System will boot if the pendrive is still present and booted. It
then loads the system from hdd. It can then still be fixed by any method
to fix grub.

Here's another person with the same problem and fixing tutorial, after
reboot: http://blog.nguyenvq.com/blog/2011/09/15/backup-re-install-
ubuntu-with-full-disk-encryption-and-restore-all-files-and-settings/

** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
