By "stops" after "reverting the lockdown", do you mean the ubiquity
window is still there and shows only that message, with no further
progress, or do you mean there is no window on screen anymore?

Bug description:
  Installing Xubuntu Desktop i386 for Vivid Daily (image from
  2015-02-23) on Virtual Box, manual partitioning, stops at the
  "Reverting lockdown of the desktop environment" step and doesn't
  finish the installation process.

  Last entry in /var/log/kern.log claims: hfs: can't find a HFS
  filesystem on dev sda2
