Actually, this appears to be an issue with overlayfs; which should
already have been fixed:

Feb  1 15:44:14 ubuntu ubiquity: /var/lib/dpkg/info/keyboard-
configuration.config: 34160: .: Can't open /etc/default/keyboard

The image being used appears to be out of date: LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu
15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Alpha i386 (20150119). Please try again with a
more recent image, the installation should work properly. You can pick
the latest images normally from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/, but it seems like the current recommended daily is still
20150119 for i386. You can retrieve the very latest i386 image from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20150205/ (for today) instead.
