Reproduced three times.

My ubiquity syslog shows grub install is attempted on  the installation
media instead of the target media.

  acer aspire S7, trying to replace windows 8.1 with Ubuntu

  I used the files and process recommended via the Ubuntu website

  the instructions on the bug submit form don't make sense to me,
  hopefully you have enough information via the auto generated error
  report.
