Title:
  DELL XPS 13: With the default bios setup ubuntu 14.04.3 doesn't
  install on the system

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  STEPS:
  1. Download the latest daily image of trusty from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/trusty/daily-live/current
  2. Copy this to a usb pendrive using the Disks app
  3. Boot from this
  4. Select install
  5. System reboots after install
  6. It doesn't boot into the installed system though

  EXPECTED:
  I expected the system to boot and run

  ACTUAL:
  Presented with a menu that says
  No boot image discovered
  Press F1 to retry
  Press F2 to enter setup
  Press F5 to enter diagnostics

  VERSIONS:
  14.04.3 test image from daily
  Dell xps 13 with bios A05

  DEFAULT BIOS SETUP:
  UEFI enabled
  Legacy enabled
  Secureboot disabled

  
  WORKAROUND:
  1. Boot from usb drive
  2. Select try ubuntu
  3. In the live desktop open a terminal
  4. In the terminal type "mkdir tmp" tap Enter
  5. In the terminal type "sudo mount /dev/sda1 tmp/" and tap enter
  6. In the terminal type "sudo mkdir tmp/EFI/boot" and tap enter
  7. In the terminal type "sudo touch tmp/EFI/boot/bootx64.efi" and tap enter
  8. Reboot
  9. Tap F2 until the UEFI menu opens
  10. Select Boot Sequence
  11. Tap on Add Boot Option
  12. Name it ubuntu
  13. Tap on the file dots
  14. On File System select FSO:
  15. For Directories select EFI/ubuntu
  16. For Files select shimx64.efi
  17. click on Okay
  18 Click on Apply and then Exit
  19. System should now reboot into Ubuntu.
