Ubuntu using an older version of the installation media.  The latest
point release of 14.04 is 14.04.2. Please try installing from that
version of the installation media and see if that resolves your issue.

  I shut my computer down and when i decided to turn it back on it
  wouldn't turn on. This has happened to me so many times that i
  couldn't do anything but to re install the OS.
